All elementary classes recently met with Mrs. Riechers to build on their Character Education lessons by participating in a perseverance obstacle course!

Through this fun and engaging activity, students practiced not giving up when faced with challenges, using positive self-talk, and cheering on their classmates as they worked toward their goals. It was a great reminder that perseverance and encouragement can help us all succeed!

Our fifth-grade students recently completed an exciting project where they researched a National Park or famous landmark and brought their learning to life by creating detailed dioramas.

From the Hollywood Sign and the Golden Gate Bridge to the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and the D-Day Memorial, students explored the history, geography, and significance of these iconic places. The creativity, research, and effort put into each project truly highlight the students’ hard work and curiosity about the world around them.

We were excited to welcome Matt Benson, a proud alumnus of Random Lake High School, back to speak with our students!

After graduating, Matt wrestled at Lakeland University, served 8 years in the United States National Guard, and has spent more than 20 years building his career with Sherwin-Williams, where he now works as a Training Store Manager.

Matt shared valuable advice about perseverance, learning from failure, and setting small goals that lead to bigger achievements. His journey is a great example of how the experiences and skills gained at Random Lake can open doors to many different paths.

Thank you, Matt, for taking the time to inspire the next generation of Rams! 🐏🎓

After putting their cooking skills to work, the students proudly served their chili to staff members, sharing a warm meal and a lot of smiles throughout the building. It was a great opportunity for students to practice teamwork, hospitality, and real-world skills while celebrating a fun national food holiday.

Give Education Day 2026
I have often shared that I love serving as Superintendent in Random Lake so much that it would take an extraordinary opportunity for me to even consider stepping away. I have said that not to keep doors open, but as a reflection of how deeply honored I am to do this work alongside our students, families, staff, and community each day. Leading in Random Lake has never felt like “just a job.” It has felt like a shared purpose and a commitment to something bigger than any one of us.

Today, I was announced as one of two finalists for the Superintendent position with the Green Bay Area Public School District. I have not been offered the position, and the process is still underway. However, I wanted you to hear this news directly from me.

Green Bay is the third-largest district in Wisconsin and the 70th largest in the nation. When I was encouraged to apply, I honestly believed the work of a smaller district might not stand out in that process. What became clear is that the work happening in Random Lake does stand out. The systems we have built around Strong Classrooms, Strong Culture, and Strong Community Connections reflect a disciplined, student-centered approach that prepares young people for college, career, and community life. Being considered for this opportunity is truly a reflection of the collective work of our staff, our students, and our families.

I understand that news like this can create questions or uncertainty. Please know that nothing changes today. The position, if offered and accepted, would begin on July 1, and there are still important steps remaining in the process. Regardless of the outcome, Random Lake is strong because it is built on shared leadership, dedicated educators, supportive families, and a committed community. Our success has never depended on one individual.

As always, I will communicate openly as updates unfold. I remain deeply grateful to serve in a district I care about so much, and I am proud that the work happening here is being recognized beyond our community.

Thank you for continuing to build something special together.

On February 7, the Random Lake Mock Trial team competed at the Regional competition held at the Brown County Courthouse. Students prepared the case Kazoo v. Wisconsin Ostrich Farm and Fun, Inc, in which Kazoo alleges she was attacked by an escaped ostrich and is seeking damages from the farm.

The regional competition consisted of four rounds, with Random Lake arguing both the plaintiff and defense sides twice.

Representing the plaintiff were attorneys Zach F. and Griffin D., with witnesses Ella R., Mason C., and Danna G. Representing the defense was attorney Anabella B., with witnesses Lena S., Liam P., and Selah W.

The team is fortunate to have Random Lake alumnus Jacob Birenbaum serving as its attorney coach.

Throughout the day, students grew in confidence while sharpening their questioning techniques and objection skills. Great job, Rams!
