We are excited to release the information below about our Fab Lab grant! #WIFabLab #strongclassrooms #strongcommunityconnections WEDC awards Random Lake $24,000 Fab Lab Grant Funds to equip high-tech lab, prepare students for jobs of the future: The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) announced that Random Lake is the recipient of a state grant to fund new fabrication laboratory (fab lab) facilities, which will equip Wisconsin students with essential skills for the 21st century’s global economy. Random Lake was awarded $24,000 to create a fab lab. “Fab labs provide students throughout Wisconsin with access to high-tech equipment for hands-on experience and training necessary to prepare them for the jobs of the future,” Governor Tony Evers said. “We are pleased to award more than $493,000 to 18 school districts today so they can establish or expand their fab lab programs,” Governor Evers said. “These great spaces for learning are of enormous benefit to students directly, of course, but also their communities by fostering collaboration, bolstering access to technology, encouraging innovation, and inspiring the next generation of leaders.” WEDC’s Fab Labs Grant Program is designed to support hands-on learning in the subjects of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM) by assisting public school districts with equipment purchases such as 3D printers, laser engravers, computer numerical control routers and plasma cutters for instructional and educational purposes. “WEDC has invested over $5 million for the past nine years with 211 grants to 125 school districts across the state, funding for the equipment necessary to help students learn high-demand skills, including technology, manufacturing and engineering,” said Missy Hughes, secretary and CEO of WEDC. “Fab labs benefit the students themselves with important technology and career skills, as well as Wisconsin employers, who will be able to find workers with the right skills to allow their companies to grow and thrive,” Secretary Hughes said. Including Random Lake, 18 school districts throughout the state are being awarded over $493,000 in Fab Lab grants this year to establish or expand their fab labs. Dr. Trimberger stated, "This grant reward is another example of our commitment to building the career pathways our students are asking for. I could not be more excited to see the great equipment our students will have access to with this grant." Fab labs have the potential to benefit individual students, school districts, the surrounding community and Wisconsin’s economy as a whole. Let's give a warm Ram welcome to our new girls varsity basketball coach! Aaron Rathke was raised in Random Lake and fondly remembers his four years on the varsity boys team. The last four years he has been helping out the Random Lake girls program, spending three years as the head JV coach and this past year as a varsity assistant coach. He is excited at the opportunity to continue to work with the student athletes at Random Lake! In his new role as the girls varsity head coach, he looks forward to continuing to build the program for girls at all levels and bringing the community together with basketball. He encourages families and community members to introduce themselves as they come out and cheer on the Rams! #GoRams #RamPride

Please read the following important information from Principal Charbonneau regarding safely viewing the solar eclipse on Monday! Dear Parents/Guardians, We hope this message finds you well. We wanted to inform you about an exciting celestial event happening on Monday, April 8th. On Monday, we will witness a partial eclipse with 89% coverage, starting around 1:00 PM and reaching its peak at 2:08 PM. The eclipse is expected to last until approximately 3:30 PM. For interested staff and students, we will provide eclipse glasses. While the eclipse will only be partial, it's essential to remember that even indirect viewing can cause eye damage. The darkness preceding the eclipse may cause the eye's iris to dilate, making it even more crucial to use proper eye protection. Therefore, we kindly request your cooperation in reminding your child about the importance of wearing proper eyewear when observing the eclipse. We are excited to provide this unique learning opportunity for our students and appreciate your support in ensuring their safety during this event. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Best regards, Rebecca Charbonneau Principal Random Lake Elementary School
