Several of our 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders proudly represented the School District of Random Lake at the FIRST Lego Robotics Competition in Oshkosh on Sunday, November 23rd.

Students were challenged to build and program a robot capable of completing as many tasks as possible on this year’s themed competition table. Each season brings a new focus—this year’s theme is Archaeology.

In addition to the robotics challenge, teams also:
•Identified a real-world problem connected to the theme
•Met with experts
•Developed a creative solution
•Presented their idea to a panel of judges

Our teams developed impressive projects, including:
•An app connecting community members to share potential artifact discoveries
•An archaeology-based video game
•A new “history layer” for Google Maps that displays historic photos of places as you drive past

We are incredibly proud of our students’ problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork. Way to go, Rams! 🐏💙

Building Career Readiness from the Start — Random Lake Proud!

At the Random Lake School District, career readiness isn’t something that starts in high school — it begins the moment our students walk through the doors of elementary school.

Our elementary counselor, Mrs. Riechers, and teaching staff weave Wisconsin’s Career Readiness Standards into everyday learning by:
🎨 Exploring careers connected to specials like Art and Music, showing how creativity fuels future opportunities.
🚌 Taking exciting field trips like STEMfest in 4th grade to spark curiosity and connect learning to the real world.
🏘️ Learning about community helpers right here in Random Lake — the people who keep our town running and thriving.
✏️ Encouraging upper grades to research and write about careers such as astronauts, farmers, and writers, blending literacy with real-life inspiration.
💪 And through it all, focusing on character building — teamwork, problem-solving, and resilience — the skills that shape tomorrow’s leaders.

From our youngest Rams to our graduating seniors, we’re preparing students to explore their passions and build bright futures.

At Random Lake Elementary, learning doesn’t just happen in the classroom — it happens wherever curiosity takes us. Over the past month our Elementary students have been taking a special trip to the Random Lake Public Library, where they get to discover the joy of reading with friends by their side.

These visits remind us how lucky we are to be part of a community that values learning, reading, and togetherness. The library isn’t just a place full of books — it’s a place where imagination grows, friendships deepen, and a lifelong love of reading begins.

A heartfelt thank-you to Ms. Casey and the amazing library staff for opening their doors (and hearts!) to our students. We’re so grateful for this partnership that helps our kids see how learning connects us all.

Our 4th grade students had an unforgettable experience at the Riversedge Nature Center! They spent the day exploring the beauty of nature, learning about local ecosystems, and discovering the amazing wildlife that calls our area home.

From guided nature walks to hands-on activities, the students had the chance to observe plants, animals, and insects in their natural habitats. They even got a closer look at the importance of environmental conservation and how we can all do our part to protect our planet.

A huge thank you to our wonderful parent chaperones for helping make this trip possible and ensuring our students had a safe and fun experience! We couldn’t have done it without you! And to the Riversedge team for making this educational adventure possible! Our students left with new knowledge, plenty of memories, and a deeper connection to the natural world.

Our Youth Apprenticeship program has grown from just 2 students to 40% of upperclassmen participating, giving students the chance to gain real-world experience while earning school credit.

From running the Random Lake Cafe, cooking at Random Lake Pizzeria, to learning at Bull’s Eye Family Farms, these students are exploring careers, building skills, and preparing for their futures — all while still in high school!

Senior Audrey Williamson says it best:
""Even if you don't know what you want to do, doing a Youth Apprenticeship can really help you figure it out.""

Hats off to all our students, teachers, and local businesses making this program a success!
