Bring a Freshman to the Game!
Our Freshman Mentor Program is kicking off an awesome initiative to build connections and school spirit! We're encouraging all 10th-12th graders to buddy up with a freshman and bring them along to these upcoming home games:
🎉 12/17: Boys Basketball vs. Sheboygan Christian
🎉 12/19: Wrestling vs. Reedsville & Cedar Grove-Belgium
🎉 1/3: Girls Basketball vs. West Bend East
Our mentors are stepping up and bringing freshmen to these games, but this is also a great opportunity for upperclassmen to reach out, make a freshman feel welcome, and enjoy some great school spirit together.

Last week, the Public Service class visited the Silver Creek Fire Department! A big thank you to the department for taking the time to share their expertise and give our students a glimpse into the work of our local firefighters!

Exciting news! Our talented Random Lake art students have won this year’s tree-decorating contest at the RL Historical Society! Over 350 students from kindergarten through high school contributed their creativity to make ornaments for our beautiful tree, which celebrates the love of our village.
The design features the 18 historical buildings in the village, along with sledders, ice skaters, and pops of black-and-white designs that complete the snowy scene. If you missed it at Night of Lights, you can still admire this masterpiece—and other stunning trees—on December 15 while enjoying the RL Chamber Singers. 🎶✨

Youth Apprenticeship Highlight:
Opportunities for EVERY student in ALL interests, while finding ways to show students that education can be enjoyable are the main priorities within our Academic and Career Planning at the School District of Random Lake. This week’s YA Highlight is a true example of two students learning skills through 'hands on' experiences within their career interests.
This week, we would like to highlight Holton Golke and Hunter Koenig for the hard work they are putting in balancing their classes at RLHS in addition to their Youth Apprenticeship experience.
Holten, a senior, has a career goal of working within the realm of Tech Ed, and partaking in 'Hands On' work. With his goal set, Holten has entered his second year as a YA at Lochen Equipment in Newburg, WI, where he is an Ag Mechanic. In addition to balancing his courses and YA, Holten is the Class Officer President of c/o 2025, and is a 3-sport Varsity athlete (Football, Wrestling, Track).
Hunter, a junior, thrives in Tech Ed environments! Heavy Equipment Operator is his career goal, and he is able to learn more about the career at his YA through Fromm Family Foods. Academically, Hunter has balanced his core classes while diving into the deep variety of Tech Ed courses RLHS has to offer. Knowledge he has learned in these classes has truly helped him succeed within his YA.
Two examples of students finding a passion through Academic and Career Planning, enjoying education within their field, making memories in extracurricular activities, and getting an #RLAdvantage before they graduate high school due to their hard work and dedication.

8th Grade Elective Tours for Mrs. Rogers's ACP course have begun!
Mrs. Rogers and Mr. Frias have partnered over the past few years to provide 8th graders with tours of each elective offering at the high school. This is a great opportunity for students to ask questions, explore their interests, and meet some of our elective teachers. Some of our Freshman Mentors also joined in on the fun last week, sharing insider tips with the 8th graders.

Happy Monday! Here are some upcoming events before we roll into Thanksgiving Break!!
Robby Frias, the younger brother of Mr. Frias, spoke virtually last week during Mr. Jones's Public Safety class about his career in law enforcement. Robby is currently a patrol officer with the Tinley Park Police Department in Illinois and will be promoted to Detective in January. Officer Frias shared valuable insights with students, emphasizing the importance of communication and respect in any career they pursue. Thank you for your time, Robby!

Random Lake's Wilderness Science class is diving into the wilderness survival unit! 🏕️ Students are learning essential skills like filtering water for safe drinking and starting fires with flint and steel. 🔥💧 Great job, Natalie Weeks, and the whole class for mastering these practical skills!
Last month, our 1st and 2nd graders explored honesty and being truthful. Check out the shields our 2nd graders made! They'll keep adding badges throughout the year as they learn more about important character traits. 🛡️✨

On Sunday, November 3rd, Mrs. Grubisic and Mrs. Norlander attended Jeff Kinney’s interactive show at the Riverside Theatre in Milwaukee! Jeff Kinney, the author of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, is on tour promoting his 19th book, Hot Mess.
Mrs. Norlander, RLSD Library Media Assistant, shared:
'We got a signed copy of the book and enjoyed a fun, interactive experience with audience challenges. Jeff shared fascinating insights about his writing process, including how he starts with jokes and builds the storyline around them—and that his favorite writing spot is a cemetery because it’s distraction-free! What an inspiring and entertaining event!'

Youth Apprenticeship Highlight:

This week’s YA Highlight is a true example of two students from very different areas of interests finding their niche within our YA programming, and enjoying learning!
This week, we would like to highlight Ethan Keller and Krystiana Vanden Heuvel for the hard work they are putting in not only in the classroom, but also within their Youth Apprenticeship and Extracurricular Activities.
Ethan, a senior, expressed a career aspiration within the trades during his sophomore SCoPE Meeting with Mr. Frias. With his goal set, Ethan balanced his core classes with as many tech Ed classes as possible within his first three years at RLHS. Due to his hard work and determination, he is now able to attend RLHS for his few remaining core classes, followed by his apprenticeship at AGI Fabricators for most of the day. Ethan will also graduate with 6 college credits through our dual-credit partnership at LTC. When not in the classroom, Ethan can be seen under the 'Friday Night Lights' playing for the RLO Football team in the fall.
Krystiana, a senior, has a passion for music and education. With the goal of one day becoming a teacher/band instructor, Krystiana has dove into our Education YA program through the School District of Random Lake. During the day, she spends time with our 'young rams', and assists some of our teachers at the elementary level. One-on-one work, small group connections, and assisting on the playground are just a few of the things Krystiana does on a daily basis. From an extracurricular standpoint, Krystiana is involved with the musicals/plays, band, and FBLA.
